About foundationThe Foundation Board: The President of the Board - ks. dr Mirosław Szewieczek The Deputy of the Board - Bronisława Szkutek The Deputy of the Board - Krzysztof Pieciun Purposes and Activities of The Drachma Foundation The main purpose of The Drachma Foundation is specified in the Foundation's statute. According to the rules defined in the present statute the Foundation fulfils the Foundation's aims by: - creating the conditions to support human development and to treat a man as an spiritual, psychological and intellectual individual who exists in certain social conditions defined through education, mutual support, aid and service,
- the evangelization of the society in the spirit of christian love and unity through the education and cooperation of the various subjects,
- helping those in need (people with disabilities, those who are victims of disease, of loneliness, of addiction, those who are threatened with rejection by society) and helping their families,
- the promotion of culture and the cultural education in order to create an individual human being who will be able to understand beauty, goodness and truth which are to find in the cultural heritage in local, European and global scale,
- the development of educational, cultural and social aspects of sport based the christian vision of the human being and society,
- the initiation and the support of both mutual aid and voluntary movements.
The Drachma Foundation was established in order to continue our earlier various activities for others. We wish The Creative Activities and Animation Center ("Centrum Animacji Działań Twórczych") would fulfil foundation aims.
We would like to answer the growing needs for the development and the self-fulfilment of the youth. We consider integration of various youth groups from different backgrounds, also those with value potential where pedagogical influence becomes often matter of minor importance. The Foundation lays particular stress on the need for sensibilization of youth toward providing help (voluntary work). In order to help young people become more open, we would like to focus on the realization of particular tasks connected to education and cultural animation. Within the task of The Creative Activities and Animation Center is: - to run a volunteer training centre and to create a social support system,
- to organize the creative workshops run by the residents,
- to educate through art: series of theatrical productions that touch on specific social issues. The amateur performers are involved in the theatrical performances prepared under the guidance of the professional actors,
- to organizate the group dynamics workshops (the workshop will stimulate the didactic practice of teachers and other educators),
- to prepare leaders of social relations and in religious education,
The Creative Activities and Animation Center will be supranational, but the results of undertaken projects will certainly enrich our region and city.
The above-mentioned tasks fall within the domain of Regional Operation Program for Silesian Voivodeship (2007-2013) (we're going to benefit from two priorities- IV- culture, VIII- education which are basic for our activities). We are aware that there are in our city many Cultural/Educational Centres, but this what mostly differs us from others is that youth education in our Center will be based on holistic approach which considers the person as a whole being, also in a metaphysical way. In The Creative Activities and Animation Center we would like to build the relationship between people and our motto will be Chiara Lubich statement which she issued to the Focolare Movement, on December 25 in 1973: "If I should have to leave this world today and you were to ask me for a single word, one last word that sums up our Ideal, I would say - certain of being perfectly understood - 'Be a family. Are there among you some who are suffering spiritual or moral trials? Understand them as a mother, and more than a mother would, enlighten them with your words or with your example. Do not leave them feeling the absence of the family warmth, on the contrary, let them feel it all the more. [...] Are there some among you who are suffering physically? Let them be your favorites. Suffer with them. Seek to understand their sufferings in depth. Share the fruits of your apostolic endeavors with them so that they may realize that they, more than others contributed to these. Are there some who are dying? Imagine yourself in their place and do for them whatever you would want others to do for you right to the very end. Is someone happy because of a particular achievement or for any other reason? Rejoice with him or her so that the consolation may not be spoiled and that person's heart not be closed, but that the joy may spread to all. Is someone leaving? Don't let him or her go without a heart filled with this single legacy: a sense of the family, so that they may take it with them wherever they go. Never put any kind of activity - neither spiritual nor apostolic - before generating a family spirit with those brothers or sisters you live with. And wherever you go to bring the ideal of Christ, to extend the immense family of the Work of Mary, you can do nothing better than to seek to create with discretion, with prudence, but with determination, the family spirit. It is a spirit that is humble that desires the good of the others, that is not proud [...]which is true and complete. In short, if I should have to leave you, I would have Jesus in me repeat to you: "Love one another... so that all may be one."
